Who Loves Going to the Dentist?

Not this girl :)

OK, it’s really not that bad.  My dental hygienist is a neighbor of my family, so it’s at least fun to have a friendly face and someone to chat with.

And good news–no cavities!  I actually haven’t had a cavity in probably a year and a half–maybe efforts at a healthy diet are helping out with that?

Breakfast this morning was definitely a nutritional powerhouse.  I first made a Green Monster smoothie with spinach, chia seeds, 1 banana, mixed frozen berries, and skim milk.

And to go along with it, PB&J toast–except I used almond butter and raspberry preserves instead of PB&J :)

Lunch–Lean Cuisine BBQ chicken pizza and 1 orange.

And dinner–chicken tamale and Pacific Foods Corn Chowder (one of the healthiest corn chowders I’ve ever seen!).

I added half a chopped red pepper to the soup for some added crunch and nutrition.

Today’s Workout: 30 Day Shred (more about that tomorrow!), 10 minutes on elliptical, 15 minutes on indoor bike

Which do you dread more–yearly physicals at the doctor or trips to the dentist?

The Secret to Reheating Pizza

The great thing about pizza?  It makes wonderful leftovers!

I’ve got reheating pizza down to a science.  The trick is to microwave it first, so it gets all warm and the crust gets soft, and then broil it in the oven until it reaches the desired crispness.

Yes Dad, that is what 4 years of college taught me.

No Dad, it was not a waste of money.

You know what may have been a waste of money?  Seeing Gulliver’s Travels in 3D.  I was hanging out with my Ruth, my cousin’s 7 year old daughter, all day today and she really wanted to see it.  I’ll admit, it had it’s funny moments (mostly those times where Jack Black just gets to be Jack Black!), but the movie moved kind of slow.  Regardless, Ruth liked it, and that’s all that mattered to me :)

After the movie, Ruth and I briefly stopped back to my apartment to gather her things, sneak in a few games of Guitar Hero, and to grab a snack.  I had some Greek yogurt.

Ruth and I then headed to my parents’ house (where she is staying while her mother is recovering from illness in the hospital) to eat dinner.  My parents cooked this wonderful, tender pot roast in the slow cooker all day.  Seriously–this meat was like butter.  The fixins were pretty good too; I can never say no to a slow cooked potato!

Time to get some rest–my legs are still sore from my 3 mile run in the cold yesterday, even after doing 35 minutes of cardio this morning to get the blood flowing.  Hopefully they will be as good as new after a good night’s sleep.
