Moving on Up

Moving on up, and moving on out!

Moving on in… (excuse my mangling of the lyrics)

Nothing can stop us!

Newspaper–nice to read, EXCELLENT to pack dishes with!

What’s your favorite part of the moving process?  I kind of like the fact that it makes me really evaluate whether I need something or if it can be thrown away or given away.

Sleeping On the Job

Another day of packing and moving!  There is a lot of work to be done, so this post is going to be a little short.

While cleaning this morning, I snacked on some grapes and strawberries, straight from the containers.

Then for lunch, Josh and I stopped at Subway while running some errands–I got a 6 inch. turkey bacon avocado sub with veggies and honey mustard.  I wasn’t sure what to expect with Subway avocado (they smash it up like guacamole on the sandwich), but the sandwich was pretty good–and cheap!

Back to work!  Some of us are working harder than others…

What’s your favorite “quick” restaurant?  Mine is probably Bruegger’s Bagels–I love a good bagel!

Our New Digs!

If you follow me on twitter, you probably noticed that I was super antsy today.  As of today, the new digs are officially ours (at least for the next year), and I’m really looking forward to the change in residences!  Right now, I live smack dab in the middle of the city, making our current apartment extremely walkable.  However, it feels so far removed from nature (no real close parks around).  Our new place still has great walkability (walk score of 85 out of 100), and I get to see trees and grass again!

Welcome to our new place!

Above is the main living room area.  The accent wall came with the apartment, and the windows at the end leads to a small balcony.Kitchen area to the right, part of the dining area on the left.  The kitchen cabinetry is all relatively new, and I still get my dishwasher (I hate doing dishes by hand!).  I have a feeling this will be my favorite area of the apartment :)

The dining area!

Bathroom #1 (not really exciting–but I thought I’d post these pics for the mom–she still hasn’t seen the apartment yet!)

Bathroom #2 (the bathroom connected to my room)

And my bedroom–I’m loving the mirror doors to the closet!  A girl needs a full-length mirror :)

Unfortunately, these were all the pictures I could get in before the sun set.  We are definitely going to need 1-2 more standing lamps for the rooms, as there is only overhead lighting in the kitchen and hallway.

Dinner was quick and ‘dirty’–Josh and I stopped by Wendy’s for a hamburger (I’m not really a fast food person, but we didn’t get to eat until late).  Now I’m closing the night off some Wedding Crashers.  See you all tomorrow with more moving pics!

Interlude Dance

Who remembers the Soulja Boy dance?? Who could do the Soulja Boy dance?  I could!!

I remember first seeing the dance my senior year of college.  I’m just a tad enamored with organized dances (like the macarena, the cupid shuffle, the electric slide, and the cha cha slide), so of course, I became a little obsessed with the Soulja Boy dance.

Well, move over Soulja Boy.  There is a *new* dance in town–the Interlude Dance.

*This dance is relatively “new.”  It actually started gaining attention last fall.  (Skip to 1:42 if you just want to watch people doing the dance–the first part is teaching you the dance)

I LOVE this dance.  It’s so simple, so peppy, and has been danced by everyone from college students to troops in Afghanistan.  I first saw it last weekend at a wedding–the entire wedding party did this dance as their first dance of the night.

Feel free to stop reading to dance.  I’ll understand :)

In other news, today is the start of MOVING!  The new apartment is ours as of today, and we’ll start moving some things over tonight.  I’m super excited!!  In fact, I can’t really focus on anything else.

I did manage to:

  • eat breakfast (not pictured as my camera battery was dead–but it was the same thing as yesterday)
  • get a workout in (20 min on elliptical, 20 min on recumbent bike),
  • and eat lunch (which was really another breakfast).

I call this an oatmeal mess :)   In the mix:

  • rolled oats
  • water
  • Greek yogurt
  • 1 banana
  • about 1 tsp of vanilla coffee syrup
  • shredded coconut
  • almond meal (basically just ground up almonds, makes the oatmeal more cookie batter-like)
  • sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice

It was so good that I ate it with a fork!  Just kidding, the fork was the only utensil clean and not packed.

Catch up with you all later–I hope to have pictures of the new place up tonight!

What’s your favorite “organized” dance?  Or what is your favorite song to dance to?

Strawberry Sweat is now Go Chelsea Go!

Happy June to you all!!  I recently decided to change things up, so Strawberry Sweat is now Go Chelsea Go!  I hope you all like the new name and the new header–hopefully, down the line, I’ll be able to redesign the blog as well.

I’ve also got a new domain name–GoChelseaGo.com.  You can still type in the old website address, but it will redirect here.

I’ll be back this afternoon–right after I squeeze in the workout I’ve been putting off all morning :)

Flavors of the Barrio

It’s official–bar exam studying has begun.  And as expected, it is NOT fun!

I spent over two hours in a intro lecture, where I learned the basics about the format of the bar exam.  During the lecture, I munched on roasted cashews and raw almonds.

After the lecture, I was HUNGRY!  I’m not used to eating dinner so late (it was 9 PM when I got home).  With a serious lack of food in our apartment, I persuaded Josh to go to Barrio with me.

Barrio is a small Mexican/South American restaurant in Minneapolis.  It is almost always packed and is known to be a bit trendy/hip.  And if you know me, I’m not that trendy or hip :)   But I’ve always heard that their food is amazing, so I wanted to try it before we leave the city.

Barrio did not disappoint!  I started off with a blood orange margarita…

which was SUPER strong–but pretty looking!

Josh and I shared some made-to-order guacamole (I LOVE guacamole.  I could eat it every day!).

For the meal, I got some black bean and chicken tostadas with mango salsa–YUM.  It was so fresh and light–but just filling enough.

End to a perfect meal–coconut cream pie.  Josh brought some home today, and it’s one of our absolute favorite desserts.  Sorry for the dark lighting in the picture–we’ve packed up most of our lamps!

All that delicious food has made me sleepy, so I’ll catch up with you all tomorrow!  Sweet dreams, y’all!

If you could have any dessert, what would you eat?

Salsa Carrots

You want to know a secret?  I don’t really like carrots.  Honestly, I find the flavor somewhat off-putting.  But I keep buying them, because they are an easy way to get veggies and are uber-portable.

Usually, I eat my carrots with hummus or some other creamy dip to mask the carrot flavor.  With the move, my fridge is rather bare.  No hummus, no ranch, nothing.  However, there was a lonely jar of salsa in the back of the fridge, so I tried some salsa carrots for lunch!

It actually didn’t turn out too bad!  It was kind of hard to get the salsa to stick to the carrots, but otherwise it worked.  I also had 2 pieces of leftover frozen pizza and some pickles.

While I let my food digest, I went to the post office, and completed some thank you cards for graduation gifts (side note–my parents/sisters, my aunt and uncle, my grandma, and Josh’s parents are AWESOME and so generous!).

Then I completed a SWEATY workout–2 miles on the treadmill @10:47 pace (21:34) total time with 10 minutes split between my warm-up and cool-down.

Then–Jillian Michaels kicked my butt!  30 Day Shred, Level 2.  Jillian, you make me sweat (and sometimes cry).

Whew!

Now I’m at my first bar exam class–and already bored!  Good thing I brought some caffeine and snacks for the next 3 hours.

What other “dips” can I use to eat with my carrots?
